This acclaimed festival, which is a regular part of the summer cultural landscape of Olsztyn, has been continuously organised since 1979 although the first concerts took place already a year before.

For several decades the concerts graced many Polish and foreign virtuosos. Every year the beautiful interiors of the Gothic Concathedral Basilica of St James are filled with the classical music of different eras. The artists bring out the harmonious sounds from the 19th century organ coming from a Königsberg workshop of Max Terlecki. Every Sunday from June to August at 8pm we can meet here the local and visiting music lovers. Anyone can join as the admission is free. The initiators and organizers of the Olsztyn Organ Concerts were a mitred prelate, Father Tadeusz Borkowski, and a pastor of St James parish and a professor, Feliks Rączkowski. For over 20 years the artistic director of the festival was professor Andrzej Chorosiński. Currently, the event is a part of the Olsztyn Artistic Summer.
