Lake Sukiel is a small reservoir located between the bays of Lake Ukiel, in the north-western part of the city. The owner of the lake, happily but for a small fee, facilitates its waters to the anglers, and the shore to those thirsty for peace tourists.
The anglers may find here a large range of opportunities – the lake is regularly stocked, so they should be happy with the results. They may take the following species from off their hook: pike, bream, carp, asp, roach, whitefish, eel and trout. One can fish both from a pier and a boat, which in fact can be hired on the spot. There are also annual and one-day fishing licenses available. And for those in the mood for relaxation, they can rent a pedal boat or a canoe.
In the north-east the lake adjoins the Likusy district and in the south and west it is surrounded by forests and meadows. Although the edges of the reservoir have been almost entirely fenced, its surroundings are attractive for the walkers.
The area of Lake Sukiel is 21ha and has a maximum depth of 25m. The reservoir belongs to the owners of the hotel “U Jacka” where one can obtain the necessary permission to enjoy its delights.
